Polymath
A Polymath is a person who has comprehensive knowledge or learning in multiple fields; a universal man or woman.
- Literal translation from Greek: “Having learned much”.
Robert Root-Bernstein, a researcher on polymathy, contrasts them with:
- Specialist: Deep knowledge in one area.
- Dilettante: Superficial knowledge in many areas.
