In India, cyberbullying is generally covered under the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act). The IT Act is a comprehensive legislation that deals with various aspects of the use of information technology in India, including [[Cyber Crime]].

Under the IT Act, cyberbullying is considered a form of [[Cyber Crime]] and is punishable by law.

In addition to the IT Act, several states in India have enacted their own legislation to address cyberbullying and other forms of cybercrime. For example, the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 1998 specifically criminalizes cyberbullying and other forms of online harassment of women.
