Chess Mate is a free chess companion that analyzes positions and suggests the best moves in real time. Play against a friend, study your own games, or learn new openings — everything runs in your browser with no signup, no ads, and no data leaving your device.

How it works

Choose white or black, then play moves on the board for both sides. On every turn, Chess Mate evaluates the position and suggests the top five moves with their centipawn scores. Hover any suggestion to preview it on the board, click to play it.

What's inside the engine

• Alpha-beta search with quiescence, iterative deepening to depth 8+
• Check extensions, null move pruning, late move reductions, killer-move ordering
• King safety: pawn shield, open files, multi-attacker danger table
• Passed pawn scoring: king proximity, rule of the square, connected/protected bonuses
• Middlegame/endgame phase interpolation for accurate evaluation
• Opening book with common theoretical lines (Ruy Lopez, Sicilian, Queen's Gambit, King's Indian, and more)
